MCU, Brooklyn Cyclones Announce MCU Park.

On Thursday, February 4th, Municipal Credit Union and the Brooklyn Cyclones announced a new name for the Cyclones’ Coney Island field: MCU Park. In addition to the naming rights, MCU and the Cyclones entered into an 11-year marketing partnership that launches in the Cyclones’ 10th season in Brooklyn. The partnership allows MCU to expand our brand presence, particularly in the borough of Brooklyn where roughly 27% of our current membership resides.

According to MCU President and CEO Kam Wong, the partnership with the Cyclones is a “natural fit” due in part to the fact that “both of our [MCU and the Cyclones] organizations share a strong commitment to the communities we serve, and we both look for ways to enrich the lives of the people who live and work in them.” MCU Park will host 38 Brooklyn Cyclones regular-season home games each year, as well as high school, college, youth league, men’s league games, charity events, concerts, and more. The 11-year agreement will take the Cyclones/MCU naming rights partnership through the conclusion of the 2020 season.

The Brooklyn Cyclones are a Short-Season Class A affiliate of the New York Mets. In its first nine seasons of play, the team has led the New York-Penn League, and the entire Short-Season classification in attendance each year, drawing nearly 2.5 million total fans in its first nine years. The Cyclones have advanced to the postseason six times, winning a league championship in 2001. In 2010, the team’s 10th season, Brooklyn will be managed by former Mets star and 1986 World Series champion, Wally Backman.
