FRAUD ALERT! Text Message Vishing Scam – ATM Card Suspension

MCU Members are reporting receiving text messages and emails that appear to be from MCU notifying them that their ATM card has been suspended. The messages instruct members to call an 866 number to re-activate their card. This is an Identity Theft scam. If you receive this message, do not respond.

Cell phone users should be wary of unsolicited text messages. Such messages should be deleted and all deleted text messages should be removed, if possible, as perpetrators have been known to use Spyware in conjunction with their text message solicitations.

Do not respond to unsolicited text messages, email messages or telephone calls that ask for any account information or other private information. MCU will never contact you by email, text message or phone call to ask you to update or verify your account information. If you think your MCU accounts have been compromised, report it to our Fraud Department by filling out and submitting a Fraud Investigation Form.
